Description
Sweeping striated rock formations dominate the landscape under a clear blue sky. The distinct layers and erosion patterns give the terrain a wave-like appearance, showcasing nature's artistry over geological timescales.
Vivid red and striped rock formations dominate the landscape under a clear blue sky, with variations in color that suggest layers of geological history. Sparse vegetation dots the arid terrain, hinting at the harsh conditions for plant life.
I've been wanting to photograph The Wave in Arizona for a while now but there is a lottery to get a permit to see it. We are usually spontaneous when we travel so it is hard to even consider entering a lottery for a certain day. And the chances to win don't sound very good.
Then I saw photos of the Fire Wave in the Valley of Fire, Nevada and decided this would be a good second choice.
We went May 20th and boy it was HOT! Found out later that it was off season because of the heat. If you ever go, you may want to go before May.
We got up early for our hikes. The Fire Wave Trail was an easy 1.5 mile out and back trail. The Fire Wave was smaller than I had expected but very beautiful nonetheless! There was nobody there and the actual Fire Wave was off to the side and hard to find. Luckily we ran into a ranger and she directed us to it. Besides the Fire Wave there were plenty of wave type rocks around for me to photograph and just take in the beauty of the scenery. It was an absolutely beautiful hike! The colors in the rocks and the shapes of them are amazing.
Because of my love for animals, I'm vegetarian, and a portion of all sales will be donated to Sanctuary One Care Farm at SanctuaryOne.org. A picturesque way to support animal rescue.
